What's changed
- Thailand: 60-day visa exemption revoked; US is on the new 60-country list with 30 days, tourism only; land-border visa-exempt entries limited to 2 per calendar year.
- Bali (Indonesia): Immigration announced a planned VOA fee rise: IDR 750,000 for e-VOA, IDR 1,000,000 for VOA at the airport; not yet in force.
- Sri Lanka: Free 30-day tourist ETA for nationals of 40 countries including the USA; ETA still mandatory.
- Georgia: Health and accident insurance for the whole trip, with at least GEL 30,000 of cover, is now mandatory for all foreign tourists.
- Thailand: Paper TM6 arrival card replaced by mandatory online TDAC.
- Thailand: Visa-exempt stay for US and 92 other nationalities raised to 60 days.
- Vietnam: E-visa extended from 30 days single entry to up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, available to all nationalities.

Which Asian countries don't require a US visa?
Among our destinations, US citizens can enter visa-free: Thailand, Georgia. Stay limits differ, so check the table above and each country page.
How long can US citizens stay in Thailand without a visa?
US citizens don't need a visa to visit Thailand. You can stay up to 30 days. Extend for 30 days at Thai Immigration (THB 1,900), or apply in advance for a Tourist Visa (TR, up to 60 days) at thaievisa.go.th.
How long can US citizens stay in Vietnam without a visa?
US citizens need an e-visa to visit Vietnam. You can stay up to 90 days. For stays over 90 days you need a different visa category, arranged through the Embassy of Vietnam or Vietnamese immigration.
How long can US citizens stay in Bali without a visa?
US citizens get a visa on arrival in Bali, or apply online in advance (e-VOA). You can stay up to 30 days. For 60 days from the start, get the single-entry C1 visit visa at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
Do I need to apply for a visa before I travel?
It depends on the destination: some are visa-free, some need an e-visa or ETA before you fly, and some issue a visa on arrival. Thailand also requires the TDAC arrival card online before arrival.

Sources in order of priority: the official portal of the destination country (immigration service, e-visa portal), then travel.state.gov and embassies. Each field (stay, extension, fee) is backed by its own dated source, linked on each country page. We recheck every 30 days; if more than 60 days pass, the page shows a warning. When there is no confirmation, we say “no confirmed data”.
