Georgia visa requirements for US citizens

US citizens can enter Georgia visa-free and stay for one full year (Government of Georgia Ordinance No. 255). Since 1 Jan 2026 all tourists must have health insurance.

Do you need to apply for anything?

For a tourist trip within the visa-free period you don't need to apply for anything: you get an entry stamp at the border. Official requirements: geoconsul.gov.ge (opens in a new tab).

1. Buy health & accident insurance covering the whole trip, min. 30,000 GEL, in Georgian or English.
2. Carry a passport valid on the day of entry with at least 1 blank page.
3. Have a return ticket and proof of sufficient funds.
4. Enter via an international checkpoint; show passport and, on request, the insurance policy.
5. Do not exceed one year of stay.
